The Fort Bend Poets group is a small group of poets in Fort Bend County, Texas who support the art of poetry.

The FBPG's Last Saturday Poetry Reading has been replaced with a critique session. The first critique session will be conducted on May 28, 2011 at 2PM at the Mugz Coffee Bar at 503 FM 359, Suite 190, Richmond, Texas. Please bring one to three of your own poems to participate in the critique session. Those who would like to read after the critique session will be encouraged to do so. See this sample video.

The Fort Bend Poets Group (FBPG) has named Ted O. Badger of Sugar Land as Fort Bend County Poet Laureate for 2011. Mr. Badger is being recognized for his work in poetry, his dedication to the art form through the publication of his Lucidity Poetry Journal and his founding of the Lucidity Ozarks Poetry Retreat.

In addition, the FBPG has named Shaunze Faisal, a sophomore at Austin High School in the Fort Bend Independent School District as Fort Bend County's Teen Poet Laureate for 2011. Ms. Faisal is being recognized for her work in poetry. She has loved poetry since the age of 7. Her mother, uncle and grandfather are also poets. Ms. Faisal's favorite poet is Sylvia Plath.

The Poet Laureate honors were honored at the April 30th Last Saturday Poetry Reading that was held at Mugz Coffee Bar located at 503 FM 359 in Richmond (Pecan Grove).

The Gulf Coast Poets group in Webster, Texas is a great poet support organization. Visit the group's Web site at www.gulfcoastpoets.info. The Fort Bend Poet's group highly recommends joining the Gulf Coast Poets group if you are interested in learning poetry and improving your poetry writing skills.

 

The Mugz Coffee Bar Coffee Shop located at 503 FM 359, Suite 190, Richmond, Texas hosts a monthly poetry critique session on the last Saturday of the month. The event starts at 2PM. Bring your favorite poems to participate.

The Last Saturday Poetry Readings have been discontinued, but the critique session will be followed by readings by those poets who wish to read.
